All across the nation and even a few spots around the world, on September 1st we paddled in unison to support Daisy Merrick, an 8-year old girl battling cancer for the 3rd time. We heard about Daisy through her grandfather, Al Merrick, who is the preeminent hi-performance surfboard shaper in the world.
While our paddle was small, it was great to see some new people and some old ones I hadn't seen in a while. We paddled out to the 1/2 mile marker at Rudee Inlet, a pretty easy task on my SUP, but quite a feat for the two shortboarders we had with us. We all made it back to the beach eventually, and a had short surf with everyone before ending the event.
